SKATE INTO READING
The Alaska Aces are proud to present the 7th Annual Skate Into Reading program presented the Childrens Hospital at Providence. Aces players are brought into schools to help promote reading, education, and physical fitness. Some of the programs highlights are:
- More then 3,000 books donated to classrooms
- Over 100 schools visited in six years, 16 schools planned for this year
- More then 35,000 students have taken part of program
- Valley schools included in program starting 2 years ago
- Over 6,000 students have attended free Aces games for participating
- Awarded with the National Education Associations Championship of Children Award in 2006
- Awarded with the Anchorage School District Star Award for Outstanding School Business
This program brings children together with professional atheletes to show how important reading and education are, and how fun physical fitness can be.
