Defense - 6-3" / 220 lbs.
Shoots: Left
Born: 08/27/1975 - Regina, Saskatchewan Canada
Player Notes
Bast was the only member of the Aces to play in all 72 regular season games last season and achieved new personal bests in points (20) and assists (18). His two goals last year were timely; one turned out to be the game-winner at Long Beach and the other tied a game late in the third period with Fresno that Alaska eventually won 3-2. Ryan has spent most of his career as one of the top stay-at-home defensemen in the American Hockey League. He earned second team all-star honors in the AHL for Saint John during the 1997-98 campaign before being signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers in May of 1998. Ryan appeared in two games for the Flyers during the following season. Bast played three full seasons in the Western Hockey League as a junior, mostly for Prince Albert but also including stops in Portland, Calgary, and Swift Current. |
