Turek scored three goals and assisted on three others while going +7 in 35 regular season games for the Aces. In the playoffs, he finished fourth on the team with a +9 rating and added one goal and six assists in 19 games. Originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round with the 94th overall pick in 2006, Turek spent three years playing for Michigan State. Ryan helped the Spartans win their first NCAA championship in 21 years in 2007, and reach the West Regional Final a year later. He also spent one season in the North American Hockey League and two in the USHL with Omaha, where he scored 17 goals (second on the team overall, tops among defensemen) and assisted on 11 others in 52 games in 2005-06.
