Merit originally was signed by the Aces March 24, 2008 after completing four seasons at UAA, where his collegiate totals of 23 goals and 30 assists in 138 games for the Seawolves included 12 points (6g-6a) this year and a career-high 19 (5g-14a) as a junior in 2006-07.  He did not appear in a game for the Aces and after being cut in the fall of 2008, eventually landed in Phoenix, scoring four goals and assisting on 16 others in 30 games for the now-defunct Roadrunners.  In 2007-08, he helped UAA earn three points in a Dec. 7-8 series at UM-Duluth with a goal and an assist in each game.  Waldrop was second on the club in assists as a junior and in goals with seven as a sophomore.  Led all UAA freshmen in scoring with 14 points (5g-9a) as a walk-on in 2004-05.
