Utah opened the scoring immediately, striking just 20 seconds into the game.  Riley Armstrong scored a power play goal, one game after the Aces didn’t take a single penalty in Wednesday’s game.  Alaska answered with a pair of power play goals of their own.  Nick Mazzolini scored from the slot at 10:44 and Garry Nunn scored on a perfect wrist shot from the left circle at 16:16 to give Alaska a 2-1 lead at first intermission.

The Aces added to the offense in the second period.  Mazzolini scored his second of the night 18 seconds into the period to make it 3-1.  Alaska then received a five-minute major power play after Utah’s Ian Schultz took a major and game misconduct for charging on Alaska forward Jarred Smith.  Smith left the game and did not return.  The Aces did not convert on that major, but scored a power play goal shortly thereafter when Alex Imbeault scored at 7:54 to make it 4-1.  Zach Harrison then made it 5-1 at 11:10.  Utah’s Bryan Cameron scored on the power play at 16:17 to cut Alaska’s lead to 5-2 after two periods.

The Grizzlies scored early in the third period to immediately get back in the hockey game.  Riley Armstrong got the Grizzlies within two with a goal 39 seconds into the period.  Gaelan Patterson then scored at 13:37 to cut Alaska’s lead to 5-4.  Finishing the game with only 13 skaters, the Aces hung on down the stretch and protected the lead to earn their third victory in as many games in Utah this season.

Gerald Coleman (6-2) earned the win, making 33 saves on 37 shots.  Grant Rollheiser (5-4-1) made 12 saves on 17 shots, taking the loss. The Aces went 3-5 on the power play and the Grizzlies were 2-5.  Alaska was outshot by Utah 37-17 in the game.
