ACES BEAT CONDORS 2-1

In their only trip of the season to Bakersfield, the Alaska Aces held off the Bakersfield Condors for a 2-1 win on Friday night form Rabobank Arena.  Alaska is now 10-1 in their last 11 games, and improved their overall record to 15-5 on the season.  The Aces are 4-1 on the road trip, and the trip on Saturday night in Ontario at 5:00pm AKT.  Alaska then returns home on Friday, Dec. 5th to host the Utah Grizzlies.  All Aces games can be heard on NewsTalk 103.7FM and 750AM KFQD.  For more information, please contact the Aces office at 907.258.ACES, or visit them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.

 

The Aces opened the game with an early 83-second, two-man advantage penalty kill.  After the Aces held the Condors off the board, Alaska struck first at 5:44.  Nick Mazzolini created an offensive zone turnover, and found Joey Crabb in the low slot who scored his ninth of the year to give Alaska a 1-0 lead.  The Condors responded and tied the game when Liam Huculack scored at 9:22 when an Evan Trupp shot bounced off Aces goaltender, Gerald Coleman and remained loose in the crease.  Huculack, who just signed with the Condors on Thursday, poked the puck over the line for the equalizer, and the period ended with the game tied 1-1.  The Aces outshot the Condors 14-10 in the period.   

 

The Aces reclaimed the lead 1:35 into the second period when Bobby Hughes scored from the right circle to make it 2-1.  The goal stood as the only goal of the second period, as the Aces outshot the Condors 16-6 in the frame. 

 

The Aces outshot the Condors 11-4 in the third period and protected their lead for their fourth straight win.

 

Gerald Coleman (3-0) earned the win making 20 saves on 21 shots.  Brian Stewart (2-6-1) made 39 saves on 41 shots, suffering the loss. The Aces went 0-5 on the power play and the Condors were 0-6.  Alaska outshot Bakersfield 41-21 in the game.
