DUBINSKY’S HAT TRICK LEADS ACES TO 5-2 WIN OVER BULLS

Oct 27th, 2012

Brandon Dubinsky scored on the first shift of the game as part of a three-goal night and the Alaska Aces led for all but 31 seconds on Saturday night in a 5-2 win over the San Francisco Bulls from Sullivan Arena.  The Aces erupted for their second straight, four-goal third period and their third in six games this year.  Alaska improved their record to 4-2 with the win.  The Aces finish the three-game series with the Bulls on Sunday afternoon at 3:05pm.  It’s a Fred Meyer skate with the Aces event immediately following the game.  Tickets are currently on sale at the Aces office, Fred Meyer locations and www.ticketmaster.com.  All Aces games can be heard on NewsTalk 103.7FM and 750AM KFQD.  For more information, please contact the Aces office at 907.258.ACES, or visit them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.

The Aces wasted no time scoring their first opening period goal of the season when Dubinsky struck 18 seconds into the game for his first of the night.  The goal stood as the only tally of the first two periods, as the clubs went to the second intermission in a 1-0 game for the second straight night.

The scoring then erupted in the third period.  Jordan Clendenning opened scoring on a rebound at 2:56 after a giveaway by the Aces just inside their own zone.  But Alaska responded immediately as Dubinsky scored just 13 seconds later on a terrific setup from Nate Thompson, who assisted on all three Dubinsky goals.  Alaska increased their lead to 3-1 when Chris Haltigin scored at 8:31 on a power play.  San Francisco got back into the game on a two-man advantage when Evan Barlow netted his first goal as a member of the Bulls at 13:00.  The Aces killed off the remainder of the penalty and then reclaimed their two goal lead on Nick Mazzolini’s third goal of the season at 14:44.  Joey Crabb delayed behind the net and then fed Mazzolini at the top of the crease where he scored for the second straight night.  Dubinsky completed the hat trick and secured the victory at 19:01 with a shorthanded goal into an empty net.

Mark Guggenberger (3-1) earned his third straight win making 18 saves on 20 shots.  Taylor Nelson (1-1-1) took the loss, making 25 saves on 29 shots.  The Aces went 1-6 on the power play and the Bulls went 1-9.  Alaska outshot San Francisco 30-20 in the game.
