ACES ADD BRANDON DUBINSKY TO TRAINING CAMP
The Alaska Aces have added NHL star forward Brandon Dubinsky to their 2012 training camp roster, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Monday. Dubinsky signed a professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the club and is taking his first practice with the team Monday morning at Ben Boeke Ice Rink. He joins fellow NHL forwards Scott Gomez, Joey Crabb, and Nate Thompson in Aces camp. Practices this week are open to all media members and fans. The Aces continue training camp next week with two exhibition games on October 8 & 9 as part of their “Paint the Rink Pink” fundraising games against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Dubinsky, 26, has played nearly 400 NHL games in his career. The Anchorage, AK native is a former second round selection (#60 overall) of the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Draft. He had spent his entire pro career with the Rangers organization before being traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier this off-season. Dubinsky has 213 points (81g, 132a) in 393 NHL games. He spent his rookie season with the Hartford Wolfpack in the AHL, where he had 43 points (21g, 22a). Dubinsky represented Team USA in the 2008 and 2010 World Cup. His most productive pro season came two years ago in 2010-2011 when he had 54 points (24g, 30a) in 77 games and led the Rangers in scoring. In 2007-2008, Dubinsky was a member of the NHL’s YoungStars roster.
The Aces 2012-2013 season begins on the road and the club will return home on Friday, October 19 at Sullivan Arena.
