The Alaska Aces and Bakersfield Condors combined for an Aces season-high 13 goals on Wendesday night at in Alaska’s 7-6 victory at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA.  The Aces began an 11-game road trip, and extended their road point streak to 12 games, with a 7-0-5 record.  The Aces improved to 31-6-5, on the season.  The Aces continue the road trip with three games this weekend in Stockton.  They return to the Sullivan Arena on February 17.  For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.   

Alaska got off to a quick start with a pair of goals in the opening minutes.  Garry Nunn struck his career-high 12^th goal of the season at 2:15 of the opening period.  Just over a minute later, Danny Markowitz scored his first ECHL goal off an offensive zone face-off at 3:33.  Jesse Gimblett got Bakersfield on the board at 13:00 to cut Alaska’s lead to one goal. However, Jordan Kremyr scored his third shorthanded goal of the season at 14:51 to make it 3-1 Aces after one period.

Bakersfield’s Tyler Helfrich scored 2:25 into the second period to continue the back and forth pace of the game.  Then Alaska got a pair of goals from Wes Goldie to extend their lead to a game-high three goals.  Goldie’s first goal came at 8:07, and then he tallied a power play goal at 12:58 for his third multi-goal game in the last five games.  Helfrich scored his second of the period for Bakersfield on a power play at 14:41, and then Parker Stanfield scored at 18:47 to make it 5-4 Aces after two periods.

The Condors scored their third straight goal at 8:38 of the third period when Gimblett got his second goal of the game to tie the score at 5-5.  With a tie game midway through the period, Dan Kissel broke the deadlock at 12:25.  With a late penalty against Alaska, Bakersfield pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker, and Ethan Cox scored at 19:16 from center ice to make it 7-5 Aces.  Bakersfield got back within one goal seconds later at 19:37 on a power play, but Alaska held on for the final seconds for a 7-6 win.

Adam Courchaine (14-2-3) earned the win, making 17 saves on 23 shots, while Bryan Pitton (4-14-2) took the loss, stopping 18 of 24 shots against.  The Aces power play went 1-2, while the Condors went 2-5.  Alaska outshot Bakersfield 25-23 in the game.
