Gerald Coleman notched his ECHL-leading third shutout of the playoffs, and four different Aces scored in a 5-0 victory over the Kalamazoo Wings in Game One of the Kelly Cup Finals from Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, AK on Saturday Night.  Chris Langkow led all players with two goals, and the Aces took a 1-0 in the best-of-seven championship.  Game Two is Sunday night at 7:15pm AKT.  A few tickets are still available.  For more information, and the latest promotional news and updates, fans can visit the Aces at their Facebook page for more information, or call the Aces at 907.258.ACES. 


The Aces controlled the tempo in the opening period, and scored the only goal of the frame.  Wes Goldie beat Ryan Nie into the top left corner on a power play at 14:55 of the period.  The Aces outshot the K-Wings 17-7 in the frame.


In the second period, the teams traded chances until Chris Langkow snapped a shot past Nie from the right circle in the final minute at 19:03 for his fourth goal in the last four games.  Following the conclusion of the period, the Aces and K-Wings engaged in a shoving match that escalated into several different scrums that needed to be broken up by the officials.  The teams combined for 30 PIM in the exchange, and Kalamazoo received a two-minute power play.   


The Aces killed off the power play, and the put the game to bed with three straight goals.  Tyler Ruegsegger scored on a breakaway at 9:20, followed by Langkow’s second of the night at 11:41, and an Ethan Cox goal at 12:54, completing a three-goal flurry in just over three and a half minutes.  Coleman and Alaska killed off a pair of late penalties to preserve the shutout victory.


Gerald Coleman (8-0) earned the win, making 25 saves on 25 shots, and posting his league-leading third shutout in the post-season.  Ryan Nie (11-4) took the loss, making 27 saves on 32 shots.  The Aces went 1-5 on the power play, while the K-Wings went 0-4.  The Aces outshot the Wings 32-25 in the game.
