BAKERSFIELD, California  -- Dan Sexton scored a hat trick as Bakersfield built a 6-1 lead and held on for a 7-4 victory over Alaska in front of 4,520 Saturday at Rabobank Arena. 

Sexton, who had four assists Friday in a 6-2 decision over the Aces, scored on a rebound against Alaska starter Scott Reid just 74 seconds into the game.  Reid, the last member of the Bakersfield Fog ('96-'97, the pre-cursor to the Condors) still playing professionally, gave up a backhander to Adam Naglich on the second shot he faced at 2:24 of the opening period, prematurely bringing his night to a close.

Andrew Ianiero greeted Reid's replacement, Sebastian Dahm, with a power play goal at 5:23 of the first period, Bakersfield's fifth in two nights.  Sexton scored shorthanded seven minutes later, the second such goal allowed by Alaska in as many nights, to put the Aces in a 4-0 hole after the opening 20 minutes.

Colin Hemingway (pictured, background--Michael Duffy) finally got Alaska on the board at 13:24 of the second period, his team-leading 10th of the year, but Mathieu Aubin answered off the rush with a drive from the right circle 20 seconds later.  When Sexton completed his hat trick with 4:33 left in the second period, the Condors seemed to have the game well in hand at 6-1.

Nick Mazzolini started the comeback at 4:37 of the final period, his third goal in seven games as a pro.  Jason Ryznar then set up T.J. Fast for a backdoor tap-in with 7:01 remaining in a four-on-four situation to bring the Aces within 6-3.  A turnover led directly to Alaska's league-leading eighth shorthanded goal of the season, a laser by Curtis Fraser (pictured, foreground) with 5:05 still showing on the clock.  The Aces had a power play down the stretch, but failed to convert, and Aubin's empty-netter with 13.6 seconds remaining finally put the game away.

Alaska finished the night 0-for-10 on the power play, but out-shot Bakersfield 14-5 over the final 20 minutes and 35-29 for the game, only the second time in 16 games this season that the Aces (8-6-2) enjoyed the upper hand in the shots on goal department.  The Pacific Division-leading Condors (11-6) attempt to pull off the three-game sweep tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. AT.  Coverage begins 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off with the Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show, aired live on the flagship home of Alaska pro hockey, KFQD 750 AM.
