The Alaska Aces, three-time Kelly Cup champions, have signed free agent center Matt Harrington, it was announced by Aces head coach Rob Murray.   Harrington, 24, is scheduled to be in the lineup tonight when the Aces resume a six-game road trip against the Colorado Eagles at Budweiser Events Center, beginning at 5:05 p.m. (KFQD/ECHL.TV).   [READ MORE]

FIVE TO FLY AWAY

Kyle Kraemer, Taylor Vause and Trent Daavettila combined for nine points to help the Colorado Eagles skate away from the Alaska Aces, 5-1 before 5,289 fans at Budweiser Events Center on Wednesday. Raphael Bussieres scored the lone Aces goal in the first period and Colorado posted four unanswered goals, stretching into the second period to take the season series opener. With a six-game road trip underway and playing a pivotal role in the Alaska Aces fortunes before the All-Star break, several players rose to the occasion in three games. On Wednesday, the Aces ripped off three goals in the second period to beat Utah, 5-3 before dropping two competitive contests at Idaho. As the Aces move onto the final leg of their road trip, three forwards stood out for the three stars of the week.

Olivier Roy made 31 saves, enough for the Idaho Steelheads to stall an Alaska Aces rally in a 4-3 Aces defeat, before 4,694 fans at CenturyLink Arena on Friday.

The Aces had their seven-game unbeaten streak in regulation (5-0-2) come to an end, nearly rallying from a 4-1 deficit with a Brad Cole goal in the second period and Greg Wolfe’s marker in the third.

The Alaska Aces continue a six-game road trip tonight, visiting the Idaho Steelheads at CenturyLink Arena for the seventh meeting between the teams. The Aces are 3-3-0 in the head-to-head series this season. They last met on Dec. 13 in Boise and the Aces were defeated by Idaho, 6-4 to wrap up the previous road trip. The Aces are 5-0-2 in the last seven games and since Nov. 11, which began the streak in Boise, they are 13-5-2 in the last 20 games.
