The Alaska Aces, the 2014 Kelly Cup champions and proud affiliate of the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League, announced today the team has been assigned defenseman Corbin Baldwin from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.   Baldwin, 23, brings 70 games of AHL experience to the Aces blueline with two assists and 138 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound defenseman has skated in two games this season and last year suited up in 64 games with Iowa, earning an assist and 129 penalty minutes.   [READ MORE]

Jussi Olkinuora made 37 saves in his season debut and the Ontario Reign earned a rare three game sweep in Anchorage by defeating the Alaska Aces, 4-1 at Sullivan Arena on Sunday.   Niklas Lundstrom made 20 saves on the Aces side while Quinn Sproule earned his second goal in as many games with a third period goal, breaking a mark of four unanswered goals by Ontario. The weekend was finished by an opponent sweep at Sullivan, for only the third time in 98 all-time three game series sets.    [READ MORE]

Joe Cannata made 36 saves for his career shutout and the Ontario Reign defeated the Alaska Aces, 4-0 before 4,220 fans at Sullivan Arena on Saturday.   The Aces, who held a pregame ceremony to distribute Kelly Cup championship rings for returning players, coaching staff and support staff, were forced to climb out of their first 0-2 start at home in ECHL history and outshot Ontario 36-28 for the game. Rhett Bly’s second straight game-winning goal snapped a third period tie and Mac Carruth made 31 saves to help the Indy Fuel defeat the Alaska Aces, 3-1 in a two-game preseason finale at Sullivan Arena on Wednesday.

Indy claimed both games in the preseason series, a promotion dedicated to fundraising for breast cancer treatment, while Justin Breton scored the lone Aces goal in the second period. The Fuel followed by scoring three unanswered goals.

The Alaska Aces close the 2014-15 preseason schedule tonight against the Indy Fuel, the second of two games in as many nights at Sullivan Arena. It is the first time both teams meet in ECHL preseason play, and the expansion Fuel's first set of two preseason games. The Aces hosted the Cincinnati Cyclones last season for two preseason games in Anchorage and split the two games, eventually squaring off in the Kelly Cup Finals en route to the Aces' third Cup title.

Taylor Law and Rhett Bly each scored a goal in the second period, enough to help the Indy Fuel hold off the Alaska Aces, 3-1 in the 2014-15 preseason opener at Sullivan Arena on Tuesday.

Newcomer Chris Francis netted the lone Aces power play goal in the third period while goaltenders Aaron Crandall and Andy Iles (loss on 10 saves) split time in net. Sean Bonar earned the win in net for Indy with 25 stops.
