ALASKA RACES BACK TO BEAT VICTORIA 4-2

A group of former British Columbia residents and Victoria players led the Alaska Aces to four unanswered goals in a 4-2 come-from-behind win over the Victoria Salmon Kings at Save on Foods Memorial Centre on Wednesday evening.  Alaska won their seventh straight game, and their 13th win in the last 14 games.  Alaska’s record improved to 46-21-3 on the year, and they reduced their magic number to clinch the Brabham Cup regular season title to one point.  The Aces can clinch the regular season title with one more point or a Greenville loss.  Greenville is in acti [READ MORE]

ACES SIGN AMATEUR LAMOUREUX, ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES

The Alaska Aces have signed forward, Jacques Lamoureux to an Amateur Try-out Agreement (ATO), Head Coach Brent Thompson announced on Wednesday.  Lamoureux will make his pro debut with the Aces, after playing four seasons of collegiate hockey – the last three for the Air Force Academy.  Lamoureux is expected to be in the Aces lineup Wednesday night in Victoria.  The Aces also announced that they have received Russ Sinkewich and Chris Langkow back from their stints in the AHL.  The Western Conference Champion Aces close the 2010-2011 regular season campaign with three game [READ MORE]

ISHERWOOD NAMED TO ECHL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM

Alaska Aces defenseman, Mark Isherwood has been named to the 2010-2011 ECHL All-Rookie Team, the Aces and ECHL announced on Wednesday morning.  The All-Rookie team was determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, who were asked to select a goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards.  Isherwood leads all rookie defensemen in goals and points.  The Western Conference Champion Aces close the 2010-2011 regular season campaign with three games in Victoria this week, beginning Wednesday night.  They will return home in mid-April for Games 1 & 2 of the Western Conference Semifi [READ MORE]

ACES CLOSE HOME SCHEDULE WITH 6-0 WIN OVER UTAH

The Alaska Aces saved their biggest home win of the season for their last one.  Six different Aces scored, and Adam Courchaine turned aside 13 shots for his co-league-leading fourth shutout, as the Aces emphatically swept the Utah Grizzlies with a 6-0 win at Sullivan Arena on Sunday afternoon.  Alaska earned their second shutout in three games, and outscored the Grizzlies 14-1 in the Aces final home stand of the regular season.  Alaska’s win was their sixth straight and 12th in the last 13 games. ACES CLINCH WESTERN CONFERENCE TITLE WITH 4-1 WIN

The Alaska Aces scored four unanswered goals, and earned their fifth consecutive win in a 4-1 triumph over the Utah Grizzlies at Sullivan Arena on Saturday Night to clinch the Western Conference regular season title.  The Aces have four games left in the regular season, then will receive an opening round bye, and begin the 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs at home in mid-April. SINKEWICH LOANED TO ABBOTSFORD

ACES CLINCH DIVISION TITLE WITH 5-1 WIN IN VEGAS

Brian Swanson had a goal and two assists, Gerald Coleman made 26 saves, and the Alaska Aces used five different scorers to beat the Las Vegas Wranglers 5-1 from the Orleans Arena on Saturday Night to clinch the 2011 Mountain Division crown.  The Aces win was their eighth in the last nine games, and coupled with Idaho’s loss in Stockton, the Aces wrapped up the Division title.  They retained an eight point lead in first place in the Western Conference over Bakersfield, and jumped in front of Greenville for the most points in the ECHL.
